Established in 1963, Pantone Inc is recognised globally as the the voice of authority on all things ‘colour’. Introducing their revolutionary colour matching system to the world of graphic, print, fashion and product design Pantone paved the way for the reproduction of consistent colour in both the physical and digital age. In 1999 Pantone created the ‘Color of the Year’ which was designed to engage and enthuse the design community about the role that colour plays in our everyday lives. In this, the 25th anniversary of ‘Color of the Year’, the chosen shade is Peach Fuzz (or, it’s Sunday name, ‘Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz’!).
At Blair and Sheridan we love to explore colour through our bespoke ring and jewellery designs. Vibrant shades found in emeralds and rubies, delicate hues offered by sapphires coloured diamonds and gemstones as well as the various tones found in precious metals present a raft of options for experimenting with colour.
The neutral, pinkish tones that ‘Peach Fuzz’ personify are most obvious in morganite – a semi-precious stone originally discovered in Madagascar in 1911. However, the wide colour palette offered by sapphires and opals make these gemstones worth exploring aswell. Try pairing a statement coloured gemstone with diamond side stones or diamond accented band. Natural pink diamonds are very rare and 90% of these originate from the industry-renowned Argyle Mine in Western Australia. The colouration is created by a distortion in the diamond’s crystal lattice during formation over millions of years. Both natural and Lab Grown diamonds can be treated to create pink and peach shades as well as many other colours. At Blair and Sheridan we can source any type of diamond or precious stone and offer you the chance to view a selection of stones prior to completion of your custom ring or jewellery design.
Unlike the dynamic and vibrant 2023 Colour of the Year ‘Viva Magenta’; the 2024 shade radiates warmth and compassion with a vintage feel – lending itself perfectly to engagement/wedding rings and bridal jewellery. If you are looking for a classic diamond solitaire or trilogy engagement ring then the feminine tones of a rose gold band can add a delicate hint of colour. Equally, mixed metals or a contrasting rose gold sleeve or inlay work well in wedding ring designs for both ladies and mens designs.
If you would like to explore coloured stones for your bespoke ring or jewellery design get in touch with us to arrange a one-to-one consultation.
